A Guide to Allocating Your Wedding Budget for the Perfect Destination Celebration!

Hey, Morgan here. Thanks for stopping by the Making Memories by Morgan blog!
For my very first post, consider this your official introduction. I’m a destination wedding travel agent, certified honeymoon specialist, and destination wedding planner. Making Memories by Morgan is my little corner of the internet dedicated to helping couples plan unforgettable experiences at all-inclusive resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean.
Whether you’re dreaming about a beachfront wedding, a romantic honeymoon, or simply an easy-breezy escape, my goal is to make the planning process feel simpler, less stressful, and a whole lot more exciting.
Let’s get the big question out of the way: what exactly does a destination wedding travel agent do?
I’m Morgan Tredway, founder of Making Memories by Morgan. It’s a boutique travel agency built around honeymoons and destination weddings at all-inclusive resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean.
Think of me as your personal resort matchmaker. I pair couples with the right resort based on your vision, priorities, and budget. Not every “luxury” resort is the right fit, and knowing the difference is kind of my whole thing.
For honeymoon couples, I narrow down the options, handle the booking details, and coordinate flights and transfers when needed. No guessing, no 47 tabs open, and no wondering if you picked the right place.
For destination weddings, I manage both the guest travel side and the wedding planning details. From group contracts and room blocks to wedding timelines and resort coordination, I handle every moving piece so nothing slips through the cracks.
Basically, I’m your travel agent and wedding planner rolled into one. Less stress for you, and a whole lot more confidence that everything is covered.
Many couples start their search looking for a destination wedding planner, a destination wedding travel agent, or a travel agent for destination weddings without realizing those roles can overlap. Because I specialize in both travel and wedding planning, my couples get guidance on everything from choosing the right resort to coordinating guest travel and wedding details in one place.

It all started with my parents’ love for travel. They gave me the chance to experience Mexico and the Caribbean from a young age, and after those first few trips, I was completely hooked.
Slightly embarrassing confession: I loved it so much that I started taking over the vacation planning. We’re talking elaborate PowerPoint presentations designed to convince my family where we should go next.
And when I say elaborate, I mean elaborate.
Caribbean background music. Ocean wave sound effects. Destination facts. Resort comparisons. The final slide? A dramatic side-by-side of gloomy Kansas winter versus a gorgeous beach in Mexico. Subtle? Not exactly. Effective? Absolutely.
A little nerdy, sure. But not much has changed.
I’ve always loved the planning side of travel, especially the details most people want to avoid. Comparing options, organizing logistics, making sure every piece fits, that has always been my thing.
Now I’ve traded PowerPoint decks for polished mobile quotes and seamless itineraries. The excitement behind it is exactly the same.
Helping people create trips they’ll remember forever never gets old.

Before MMBM, I spent several years as a social worker helping children in the foster care system.
I launched Making Memories by Morgan in August 2020, after already being in the travel industry for about three years. Which, yes, 2020 is a slightly wild time to start a travel business. Timing aside, I knew this was the path I wanted.
My social work background taught me a lot about showing up for people during the seasons that matter most. It was meaningful, rewarding, and genuinely heavy work. I’ve always had a big heart for helping others, and that role really fed that part of me.
Being a destination wedding travel agent means I still get to step into that “helper” role, just in a much happier setting. And honestly, those crisis management skills still come in handy more than you’d think. Less emergency caseworker, more “don’t worry, I’ve got it handled.”
Now I get to help couples plan some of the happiest moments of their lives while still doing what I love most: supporting people through important milestones.
Hadley is my newest team member — also known as my daughter, who we welcomed in August 2023. She brings a whole lot of personality and energy to the workday.
I also share my Kansas City home office with two other assistants: my dogs, Kida and Ellie, who take their supervisory roles very seriously. Their specialties include monitoring delivery drivers, demanding snack breaks, and serving as silent (and surprisingly attentive) note-takers during client calls. As long as they can stay awake long enough that is.
And during consults, my husband, Ben, holds down the fort and makes sure all three assistants are on their absolute best behavior so my couples get my full focus.

Taking full advantage of the 3+ acres our home sits on in KC. I love letting the dogs out and watching them zoom around the property, attempting to garden (a hobby I somewhat picked up during pregnancy), cooking, and hanging out with our family and friends.
It’s generally a very laid-back time at Casa Tredway.
So that’s a bit about me as a destination wedding travel agent—now I’d love to learn a bit about YOU. Feel free to drop a comment below saying “hi!” and let me know if there are any particular travel topics you’d like to see me cover on the blog!
Whether you’re dreaming about a beachfront ceremony in Mexico, a luxury adults-only resort in St. Lucia, or a romantic honeymoon in the Caribbean, I’d love to help make the planning process easier.
From helping you choose the right resort to coordinating guest travel and managing the details behind the scenes, my goal is to make sure you feel supported every step of the way.
Planning a destination wedding should feel exciting, not overwhelming. That’s where having an experienced destination wedding travel agent on your side can make all the difference. Let’s chat and get started!
