Marissa and I met through being in the same sorority, so when she reached out with interest about a destination wedding I was incredibly honored. It was clear from the beginning that their guests were beyond excited to celebrate with them and I think it’s safe to say Marissa & Joe were most certainly showered with love- literally! Between the party with their friends and getting rained on as soon as dinner started, it was certainly a night to remember. Prior to arriving, what were your biggest fears regarding your destination wedding?

When we were first debating on having a destination wedding, I was pretty nervous about planning a wedding from a completely different country but with Morgan’s previous experience and expertise – I knew we would be in good hands. We started the process with Morgan gauging our wants and needs for the wedding and personally selecting 3 resorts to research and pick from. We ended up selecting El Dorado Royale & Casitas in Riviera Maya, Mexico, and while making this big decision completely site unseen was very nerve-racking, we put our trust in Morgan who had been to this resort 8+ times and already vetted it for us so I knew it was a good choice.

How would you describe your experience working with Making Memories by Morgan (MMBM)?

Throughout the planning process Morgan was communicating with us every step of the way. Not only did she manage the room block reservations for our 75 guests, but she helped us communicate with the onsite wedding staff to pick our ceremony/reception locations, food & beverage selections, floral & decor, timeline, etc. Sometimes the resort staff were slow to respond when they were in busy season, but Morgan was very quick to respond to all of our many questions and could often provide her personal experience from weddings at this property.

The big travel days for our wedding guests were impacted by a freak ice storm in Dallas, causing many of our guests to have their flights cancelled or rerouted. Morgan was working around the clock to make sure that everyone was attended to and that their transportation arrangements were adjusted accordingly (including my sister who finally arrived at the resort at 2am on wedding day). All of this was happening behind the scenes so that we could enjoy our time in paradise and didn’t have to stress about our guests getting there.

We received so many compliments from our friends and family praising her thoroughness and attentiveness. The travel documents provided to all of our guests included everything you could possibly think of and definitely helped field questions – Morgan actually encouraged us to direct everyone her way. Overall, we had an amazing week and wedding celebration in Mexico and we owe it all to Morgan.
