A Guide to Allocating Your Wedding Budget for the Perfect Destination Celebration!
Navigating a busy airport in a foreign country while juggling destination wedding-week nerves isn’t exactly anyone’s idea of fun. Between figuring out where to go, avoiding the swarm of people offering rides, and praying that all your guests arrive safely—it can feel like a lot. But for Nina and Tyler, these pre-travel worries quickly faded before they even landed, thanks to thoughtful planning, clear communication, and a detailed itinerary (plus a few helpful photos from me!).
Meet Nina & Tyler- From the moment Nina and Tyler reached out, I knew they were something special. They’re that perfect blend of laid-back, hilarious, and totally in love, and I had the honor of not only helping them plan their wedding but being on-site to celebrate right alongside them. With 62 of their favorite people flying in to party with them, it’s no surprise their wedding was unforgettable. Their Mexico destination wedding was one of those that reminded me why I love what I do.
Here’s a peek into their destination wedding journey—and their honest answers to what the experience was really like.

Prior to arriving, what were your biggest fears regarding your destination wedding?
Our biggest fears prior to arriving was everyone being able to get to the airport and get to the resort. The airport is filled with people asking you, “do you have a ride?”, or, “Do you need transportation?”. It can be overwhelming. With Morgans instructions, and pictures of the VM travel group, it made it very easy to find our ride. Same for guests! As a bride, I also worried about hair and make up. They made each and every one of us so beautiful and the make up stayed all night!
Did you splurge on anything travel or wedding related for your destination wedding? If so, what was it and did you think it was worth it?
We splurged for the Donkey Cocktail Hour and it was so memorable! Everyone got to take a picture with Lupito (Donkey), but also the tacos were delicious and a perfect bite before the wedding started. It was worth everyone tagging us in their pictures. It makes us smile looking over the pictures.
How was your experience working with Making Memories by Morgan before and during your wedding?
We cannot say enough about our experience with Making Memories by Morgan. From start to finish. Throughout the process, we met with her via zoom to go over important dates (food, DJ, guests list, guests travel documents, food allergies, etc.). She did this all behind the scenes as people were uploading there information. She literally took care of the whole wedding party and guests. If people had questions, they could email her and she would provide the answers. We liked this because it relieved the stress off of us. Mind you, our family and close friends always asked us questions. If we didn’t know the answer we would email her and get a response quickly. Morgan is personable, efficient, and exceptional. There is no need to stress or worry that something is going to fall apart. If you’re on the fence about trusting someone to help coordinate your destination wedding. Don’t fret, Morgan has you covered.
Our experience with Morgan on property could not have been better. Honestly, if Morgan was not present at the initial wedding meeting and throughout our stay, we would have been lost. During the wedding, she made sure to grab the grooms and groomsmen bags and clothes from the room we got ready in and took them back to our room. She made us eat after our wedding to make sure we had sufficient food in our stomach prior to taking more pictures and our reception entrance. She answered our questions in a timely manner while on property (and before). If she didn’t know the answer, she reached out the the resort staff for further guidance.
What was your favorite moment of your destination wedding week at El Dorado Royale and Casitas?
Favorite moment of our destination wedding week was truly the wedding itself! The DJ was perfect. We told him “we listen to 70’s music, 2000’s music, and Black Eyed Peas”. Funny enough, he played the best playlist and literally killed it. Everyone thought we made the song list, but we gave him a list of 3 things to go off of and DJ Cricket nailed it!
Final Thoughts
I’ll be honest—this one was bittersweet for me. Nina and Tyler were a dream to work with, and getting to celebrate their big day in person was such a joy. When it was over, I was sad to say goodbye! But their photos (and Lupito, of course) still bring a smile to my face.
If you’re dreaming of a destination wedding that’s meaningful, stress-free, and full of your favorite people, I’d love to help you make it happen—just like I did for Nina and Tyler.
