A Guide to Allocating Your Wedding Budget for the Perfect Destination Celebration!

El Dorado Royale Mexico weddings are known for bringing people together for more than just a wedding day. They create an entire week of memories with family and friends, and that’s exactly what Nina and Tyler experienced when 62 of their favorite people joined them in Riviera Maya to celebrate.
From a beautiful ceremony on the Pier Deck at Generations Riviera Maya, to an unforgettable reception at Palapa Ganesha, to a group catamaran excursion with their closest family and friends, their wedding week showcased why this resort complex continues to be one of my favorite destination wedding recommendations in Mexico.
While Riviera Maya is home to some resorts with better swimmable beaches, what keeps me coming back to El Dorado Royale and El Dorado Casitas are the stunning tropical grounds, towering palm trees, lush landscaping, and countless pools spread throughout the property. It feels like you’re staying in a tropical garden, creating a perfect backdrop for a destination wedding week.

From the moment Nina and Tyler reached out, I knew they were something special. They’re that perfect blend of laid-back, hilarious, and completely in love.
Not only did I have the opportunity to help them plan their destination wedding, but I was also on-site to celebrate right alongside them. With 62 guests traveling to Riviera Maya to celebrate, their wedding week was filled with unforgettable moments, plenty of laughter, and memories that extended far beyond the wedding day itself.
Their celebration was one of those weddings that reminded me exactly why I love helping couples plan destination weddings.
I’ll be honest, this one was bittersweet for me. Nina and Tyler were a dream to work with, and getting to celebrate their big day in person was such a joy. When it was over, I was genuinely sad to say goodbye. Thankfully, their photos (and Lupito, of course) still bring a smile to my face every time I look back on this incredible week.
Destination Wedding Details

One of the reasons I continue recommending El Dorado Royale and El Dorado Casitas is the overall guest experience.
The resort complex offers beautiful tropical grounds, countless palm trees, multiple pools, and a variety of room categories that work well for different budgets and travel styles. Couples also have access to unique wedding venues throughout the resort complex, including the Pier Deck at Generations Riviera Maya, one of the most popular oceanfront ceremony locations in the area.
For Nina and Tyler, the combination of gorgeous venues, easy guest logistics, and a fun, relaxed atmosphere made El Dorado Royale the perfect place to celebrate with their family and friends.

One of the biggest concerns couples have when planning a destination wedding is making sure their guests arrive safely and confidently. Navigating the Cancun airport can feel overwhelming, especially for guests who have never traveled internationally before.
For Nina and Tyler, guest travel logistics were one of their biggest concerns before the trip.
Prior to arriving, what were your biggest fears regarding your destination wedding?
“Our biggest fears prior to arriving was everyone being able to get to the airport and get to the resort. The airport is filled with people asking you, ‘do you have a ride?’, or, ‘Do you need transportation?’. It can be overwhelming. With Morgan’s instructions, and pictures of the VM Travel Group, it made it very easy to find our ride. Same for guests!
As a bride, I also worried about hair and make up. They made each and every one of us so beautiful and the make up stayed all night!”
When couples ask me about memorable wedding upgrades, Nina and Tyler’s cocktail hour is always one of the first weddings that comes to mind.
Did you splurge on anything travel or wedding related for your destination wedding? If so, what was it and did you think it was worth it?
“We splurged for the Donkey Cocktail Hour and it was so memorable! Everyone got to take a picture with Lupito (Donkey), but also the tacos were delicious and a perfect bite before the wedding started. It was worth everyone tagging us in their pictures. It makes us smile looking over the pictures.”
Lupito quickly became one of the most photographed guests at the wedding and gave everyone something fun and unexpected to talk about before the party officially began.

After their ceremony on the Pier Deck, guests made their way to Palapa Ganesha for an unforgettable evening of dinner, dancing, and celebration.
One of the highlights of the night was a packed dance floor thanks to DJ Cricket, who absolutely understood the assignment.
What was your favorite moment of your destination wedding week at El Dorado Royale and Casitas?
“Favorite moment of our destination wedding week was truly the wedding itself! The DJ was perfect. We told him ‘we listen to 70’s music, 2000’s music, and Black Eyed Peas’. Funny enough, he played the best playlist and literally killed it. Everyone thought we made the song list, but we gave him a list of 3 things to go off of and DJ Cricket nailed it!”

How was your experience working with Making Memories by Morgan before and during your wedding?
“We cannot say enough about our experience with Making Memories by Morgan. From start to finish. Throughout the process, we met with her via Zoom to go over important dates (food, DJ, guests list, guests travel documents, food allergies, etc.). She did this all behind the scenes as people were uploading their information.
She literally took care of the whole wedding party and guests. If people had questions, they could email her and she would provide the answers. We liked this because it relieved the stress off of us.
Mind you, our family and close friends always asked us questions. If we didn’t know the answer we would email her and get a response quickly.
Morgan is personable, efficient, and exceptional. There is no need to stress or worry that something is going to fall apart. If you’re on the fence about trusting someone to help coordinate your destination wedding, don’t fret. Morgan has you covered.
Our experience with Morgan on property could not have been better. Honestly, if Morgan was not present at the initial wedding meeting and throughout our stay, we would have been lost.
During the wedding, she made sure to grab the groom and groomsmen’s bags and clothes from the room we got ready in and took them back to our room. She made us eat after our wedding to make sure we had sufficient food in our stomach prior to taking more pictures and our reception entrance.
She answered our questions in a timely manner while on property (and before). If she didn’t know the answer, she reached out to the resort staff for further guidance.”
